Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock Lee Lyons was out collecting signatures for a petition to save the display window of Ayr's historic tobacconist store T. H. Dalling. The display window is under impending threat from legislation passed by the Scottish Government in 2010 which will prohibit displays of tobacco based products and accessories from public view.

Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock Lee Lyons has backed a Friends of the Earth campaign to help schools to save thousands of pounds by installing solar power. Lee met with representatives from the Friends of the Earth campaign at last weeks Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham and discussed a range of energy issues.

Prime Minister David Cameron reaffirmed his commitment to further devolution for Scotland in his keynote address to the Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham yesterday.He stated early on in his address that "During that referendum campaign we made a vow to the Scottish people that they will get more powers - and we will keep that vow". 

Membership of the South Ayrshire Conservatives has increased by 10% since the result of the referendum, it has been announced. Following on from the strong result which saw over 2 million Scots reject independence in favour of the Union, several people have put their colours to the mast and have decided to join our growing organisation.

South Ayrshire has overwhelmingly backed a No vote in Thursday's referendum. The local result, which was declared at 5.30am on Friday 19th September by the local Returning Officer, showed that 58% of residents in South Ayrshire had voted to preserve the Union whilst 42% voted for separation. 

MP's Mark Menzies and Charles Hendry arrived in South Ayrshire to help get out the vote in the run up to Thursday's referendum. Mark and Charles are both pictured to the left alongside local PPC for Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock Lee Lyons, his partner Linda and local activst James Sibley. 

Local Conservative candidates Lee Lyons (PPC Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock) and Marc Hope (PPC Central Ayrshire) were on hand to help out with other local activists from South Ayrshire Better Together at the recent Scottish Airshow. Local Conservatives from South Ayrshire including our Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock Lee Lyons joined the renowned author and former Conservative speechwriter Lord Dobbs for a door-to-door canvassing session ahead of September's big referendum.

Prospective Parliamentary Candidates were last night selected by members of the party to contest the Ayr, Carrick & Cumnock and Central Ayrshire constituencies at the 2015 U.K. General Election at meetings held in Ayr and Troon.Lee Lyons (pictured right) and Marc Hope (pictured left) will contest the seats and hope to topple the long standing Labour MP's in each area.

Over 20 activists campaigned on Saturday (21st July 2014) at the Ayr Holy Fair to help secure a resounding "No" vote in the referendum on Scottish indepedence. Some campaigners were out speaking to voters in Ayr High Street and others were giving information to interested residents at the information stall at the Holy Fair.Whilst Better Together is made up of all party and non-party activists, Conservatives have led the campaign in South Ayrshire and many have dedicated days, weeks and months to ensuring that South Ayrshire votes "No" and Scotland votes "No".
