Bill Grant served Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock at Westminster between 2017-2019, after being elected in June 2017. He sat on the Science and Technology Committee at Parliament, and was proud of his attendance record and contributions to Parliamentary debates throughout his time as MP. Bill was born and raised in the village of Rankinston in East Ayrshire, then he moved on to working in the fire brigade for 31 years. Before he became an MP, Bill Grant served as a local councillor, representing the Ayr West ward in South Ayrshire Council for 10 years (2007-2017).
Bill enjoys many leisurely pursuits when not working, including spending time with his family, gardening & D.I.Y., going out for a pint with friends and going out on his motorbike.He is also a member of the Kyle & Carrick Civic Society, the Alloway Rotary, the Ayr Classic Motorcycle Club and the Ayr Building Preservation Trust.
